Krystal Woodley

Hello, I am Krystal Woodley.  I am the English IV and English IV Honors instructor, theatre director, and UIL Prose and Poetry coach at Elysian Fields High School.

I was inspired to seek a degree in theatre education after participating in UIL One Act play while in high school.  I was fortunate enough to receive a theatre scholarship to Panola College, and I completed my degree at East Texas Baptist University.  As an avid life long reader who also enjoys writing, I made the decision to also become certified to teach English.  I received my position at Elysian Fields high school immediately following my college graduation, and I am proud to be in my ninth year of education.

In addition to teaching, I stay busy with my family.  I have been married to my husband, Dusty, for nine years, and we have two children together.  Avery is our sassy, sensitive gymnastics loving six-year-old, and Lawson is our never slow down, into everything, rough and tumble three-year-old.  More than anything, I love to sit at home with my little family and let the chaos ensue, and there is always plenty of chaos.

I truly do have a passion for teaching, and I do not take the responsibility that I have lightly. My goal for the year is to instill a love of reading in my students, improve their writing, enhance their vocabulary, and begin them on a path to college or career readiness. It is my hope that I also reach my students beyond the realm of English and help to teach them what it means to be a responsible, caring, and productive member of society.
I heavily utilize Google Classroom in the instruction of my students.  I post assignments, supplemental material, reminders, and more through Google Classroom.  All of my students have access to this.  Parents, you can elect to receive weekly emails from Google Classroom updating you of what your child is studying and being assessed on.  If you would like to be added to your child's account, please email me at krwoodley@efisd.org, and I will grant you access to Google Classroom.  If you have any comments, questions, or concerns regarding my class, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I look forward to a stellar 2016-2017 school year!
