Day 23 


On September 25,2017 we talked about producers, consumers, prey, predators, host, and parasite. In our journals we made pockets for them and put examples in each pocket. We also wrote the terms down for each and gave more examples for each of the terms.

Reading- this week we are reading My Brother Martin. Vocabulary for this week is found on page 42-43 and the story begins on page 48. Students are working on point of view and author's purpose. Our reading test will be Friday. The test will cover author's purpose and the 10 vocabulary words they should be studying.

Day 22 
On September 21st, 2017, we made notes about "true leaves".

Day 21 


On September 20th, 2017, we went on a nature walk. We loaded on the bus and went to our cross country course. On the way there, students were given a clipboard and a piece of paper. They were told to make a list of the herbivores, omnivores, carnivores, producers, and decomposers they saw. Students were told to walk slowly, pay close attention, and to be quiet. This way, they didn't miss a thing.

Day 20 
On September 19th, 2017, we continued to work on our slides. We were given a list of requirements to go by:
  • transitions
  • images 
  • animations
  • intro slide
  • 5 filler slides (the ones with the info)
  • conclusion slide

The students worked quietly and diligently. And a few got halfway done.

Day 19 
On September 18th, 2017, we pulled weeds from our flower beds, watered our plants, and got introduced to our slideshow project that is due Friday. The project is over "what makes plants profitable". The students were given a video to watch and take notes on for their slideshow.

Day 18 


On September 14th, 2017, we identified trees by their leaves. We went online to a dichotomous key for native trees of Texas. Students used this key to find the scientific names of trees around their homes and communities.

Day 17 


On September 13th, 2017 we got with our groups and presented our slides to the rest of the the class. After we finished presenting our slides, we went outside to water and check up on our plants. We saw new growth in our cilantro, and our radishes are soon gonna need thinning!

Day 16 


On September 12th, 2017 we finished putting in the last details of our slides, and the groups went over everyone's slide and turned them in to the teacher. After we turned in our slides everyone went to check up on their plants. All of our cucumbers have sprouted, and our vertical garden is thriving.
