Letter about 2020-21 School Year

July 23, 2020

Dear Elysian Fields Elementary Family,

I hope that all of you have enjoyed a happy and healthy summer and that you are ready to begin a new school year.  I know most of you are apprehensive, as we all are, regarding the 2020-21 school year and the inevitable changes taking place.  Now that our district has shared a general plan for our return to school I wanted to take this opportunity to put your mind at ease on a few points specific to the elementary.

Yes, we will have P.E., recess, and lunch in the cafeteria on campus for our face to face learners. It will look a little different than in previous years, but we will create every opportunity for our kids to be kids and get out their wiggles so they can better focus and learn while they are in the classroom.

Visitors to our campus will be limited and I realize this is going to be one of the hardest changes for our families and our staff to adapt to this year.  I am making it a goal to see that we come up with new and creative ways to keep our parents and families involved in our children’s school experience. Again, our family and community involvement with our school may look different this year, but together we will make it the best it can be for our children.

We are still working on the details of meeting teachers, getting supplies to school, setting up our virtual classrooms for our at home learners (who we intend to have as close to an “in class” learning experience as possible), along with dozens of other plans to make this year happen.  What I will assure you is that the staff of Elysian Fields Elementary is beyond excited to be back with our students.  Our teachers have literally worked all summer to make sure all students have the absolute best year possible. These teachers are ready to give an abundance of support and encouragement to their students and families.  Please remember to offer them that same support and encouragement as they love and educate your children.

You are trusting us with your most treasured blessings. We will do all we can do to keep them safe, happy, loved and learning. Enjoy your fleeting moments of summer and we will see you all very soon.
