EFMS UIL Finishes 2nd At First Meet
The Elysian Fields Middle School UIL Academic team performed exceptionally well and earned second place out of seven teams with a score of 762 total points at UIL Competition in Nacogdoches this week.
The 6th Grade team finished first overall in Social Studies and Dictionary, with second place finishes in Music Memory, Calculator, Number Sense, and Science.
EFISD 7th Grade finished first in Calculator Applications and Social Studies, and was runnerup in Maps, Graphs and Charts; Number Sense, and Spelling.
The 8th Grade team won first place in five categories: Number Sense, Spelling, Mathematics, Chess, and Social Studies, with second place finishes in Maps, Graphs, and Charts; Science, and Music Memory.
8th Grade Individual champions were AJ Allen (Social Studies); Amelia Burton (Editorial Writing); Jacob O'Brien (Chess; Maps, Graphs, and Charts); and Libby Simms (Number Sense).
7th Grade Individual champions were Maddie Doan (Impromptu Speaking); Lauren Johnson (Calculator Applications); Kaleb Koehn (Maps, Graphs, and Charts); Harper Smith (Listening); Devin Sneed (Science and Social Studies); and Delacey Williams (Oral Reading).
6th Grade Individual champions were Allie Schevers (Listening); Zane Bailey (Dictionary Skills); Caden Commander (Music Memory); Brady Martin (Number Sense); Hudson Quick (Maps, Graphs, and Charts); and Allie Schevers (Oral Reading).
Other top finishes for EF 6th Graders were Caden Commander (2nd place, Editorial Writing; 5th place, Ready Writing); Hudson Quick (2nd place, Social Studies; 4th place, Science); Konner Harper (3rd place, Spelling); Reese Wilson (3rd place, Calculator Applications; 3rd place, Dictionary Skills; 5th place, Editorial Writing); Brady Martin (4th place, Calculator Applications); Allie Schevers (4th place, Editorial Writing); and Samara Wilson (6th place, Social Studies).
