"The Best Little School District In Texas"

Welcome Coach Bo Maines!

Posted Date: 4/02/25 (2:33 PM)

Bo Maines, the Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Azle High School, has been hired as the new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Elysian Fields.
Maines’ approval was made official on Tuesday, when the Elysian Fields ISD Board of Trustees approved the recommendation from Superintendent Monica Simmons and the coaching search committee.
Maines will take the reins of the Jacket program from Justin Crow, who spent the last three seasons at Elysian Fields before leaving for another position in Mineola in February.
Maines has been Assistant Head Coach at Azle since 2014, helping lead a program that has gone 72-50 overall with 11 playoff appearances and four district championships. He also held assistant coaching roles and teacher/assistant principal positions at Springtown ISD prior to joining Azle ISD.
Maines is also a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served from 1995-1999 with multiple forward deployments as a section leader for combat rescue.
The new EF AD holds a Bachelor of Art in History and was a Cum Laude graduate from the University of North Texas in 2003. He earned a Masters in Education from Sam Houston State University in 2010.
“My family and I are looking for a new home to put down roots and become a part of the district and community in Elysian Fields,” said Maines. “We are looking for a program that is daring to be great and is ready to begin their next chapter.
“Programs are successful when athletes push their limits, not for wins and losses, but to not be the one that lets their brother or sister down,” he said. “Programs should have well communicated rules and expectations. These must be reinforced daily. Coaches are there for the kids, and kids are there for those in the classes below them and their teammates.”
The district will host a meet-and-greet for Coach Maines and his family Thursday evening from 5-6 p.m. in the Board Room of the EFISD Administration Building.
